California and Armitage

A set of three three-flats and a corner store and flats building at the corner of California and Armitage in the Logan Square neighborhood.

These residential buildings feature a mix of styles: Romanesque (far left), Neoclassical (left, middle). The store and flats and building on the right features a mostly classical ornament with some Victorian whimsical ornament.

The second building features something you see around the city: ivy growth. The masonry exterior provides something for the ivy to latch on to. If unmaintained it tends to cover most everything except for doors and windows, somewhat like the three-flat here.

This print is made with oil-based ink on 16x20 kitakata paper. The ivy is hand colored with oil pastel.
