Three essentials of early 20th century homes in Chicago can be found on King Drive near 114th Street: the bungalow, the two-flat, and the courtyard apartment building.

The courtyard building (left) is more of a partial courtyard, built in the late 1920s and featuring geometric art deco motifs and extensive stained glass windows.

The two-flat (right) is a common 1900s/1910s configuration but with a twist: a prominent pediment with fanciful brickwork.

Last but not least is the small yet mighty bungalow. Dating to the mid 1920s, this brick home features decorative terra cotta ornament usually found on commercial buildings of the era.
